It is important for them to realize that taking small steps can break the habit, such as turning off notifications; examining why one is using social media and how it makes them feel; and picking a new activity to do instead and using wording in one’s mind to help them continue to pursue it, thus giving way to raising awareness in every student and those young children who are now excellent at using gadgets. There are many ways to overcome this addiction and we must adopt them to lead a better life. This study contributes knowledge on how social media can affect the academic performance of students in the Municipality of San Agustin and the importance of educating them. This research incorporate that every student should indulge in activities that social media is not part of, spend more time with family and friends to overcome this social media addiction since this can serve as a good distraction from the false world they have created for themselves.
