Announcing More AI Credits and Lower Costs on The Internet

We are proud to announce an update of our AI credits system!

We are increasing the number of credits in each of our subscriptions and decreasing the costs of our credit packages.

Put simply, users without a paid subscription now get 10 more AI credits per month for free. Users with a paid subscription get double the number of AI credits per month they were getting when compared to the old plans. We've also reduced the pricing of our individual AI credits packages, correspondingly.

Why the Change?

As The Internet has grown, we've expanded the AI-powered tools we offer. It's been awesome to see what you all have created with them. With that being said, generative AI is costly and maintaining that sustainable balance between wanting to enable you guys to be able to explore the latest capabilities of this technology as well and not going broke in the process can sometimes be a delicate process. Thanks, in major part, to our recent partnership with Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub, we're now able to significantly reduce our operating costs and pass those savings onto you. Ever since MobianLover posted their feature request for additional AI credits for users on the Free plan, I've been looking for a way to implement that. It feels good to finally be able to do that sustainably!

What are AI Credits?

AI Credits () are the currency of TheInternet.io, allowing you to use our suite of AI-powered tools. To enable this functionality, we make a series of paid API calls to services like OpenAI, Pinecone, and Azure; making features like AI discussions, article summarization, narrative creation, and AI art possible. AI credits are a representation of this cost of sophisticated AI generation. The more credits you have, the more you can explore and create on The Internet with our AI-powered tools.

New Possibilities with Extra Credits

I'm excited to see what you all create with a little bit more opportunity. If you're looking for suggestions on how to use your AI credits, here are some of my current favorites:

• Engage in AI-Powered Discussions: Post on Comment on The Internet and interact with our AI models in the comments
• Learn efficiently with SummaryBot: Download the Comment on The Internet Chrome extension and use SummaryBot to summarize lengthy articles
• Craft Your Story: Write a full-length narrative with Write (with AI) using multiple AI prompts and images
• Generate AI Art: Use AI to create an image through Comment on The Internet

Implementation Details

These changes will go into effect on February 26, 2024. As a thank you to the current community of The Internet, we'll also be giving existing users a one-time bonus of free AI credits! For existing users on the Free plan, you'll get an extra 20 AI credits. For users on a paid subscription, you'll be getting an extra 50 AI credits. Thank you for keeping this website interesting!

After February 26, 2024, the new rates (as shown in the chart above) will apply for all users (existing and new). Please refer to the Store for the most up-to-date information on pricing.
