Dr. Jose Rizal left Calamba for Binan when he was just a young boy to continue his education under the private tutelage of Maestro Justiniano Aquino Cruz. Rizal's parents, realizing his quick intelligence and growth, decided that he should be sent to Binan to learn Latin and Spanish better. The one who accompanied the young Rizal to Binan was his older brother, Paciano Rizal. Paciano was seen as a role model by Jose, and he was the one who first guided him towards the importance of education and learning. Paciano introduced him to Maestro Justiniano and guided him while adjusting to his new environment.
