The battle between the Romans and the Celts began with the Romans vastly outnumbering their enemy almost 10 to 1. The Celts were outnumbered but determined and fight fiercely, taking full advantage of their terrain and the surprise attack. After a lengthy and bloody battle, the Celts emerged victorious, with the Romans being almost totally massacred by the Celts. The Celts, emboldened by their victory, marched to the city of Rome and started to lay siege to it. After seven long years of an intense siege, the walls of Rome eventually crumbled and the Celts took control of the city. The city of Rome was left in ruins, with the Celts looting and burning whatever they could find in sight. But then out of nowhere, a fresh Roman army of 50,000 troops attacked the city, taking the Celts by surprise. The Romans were able to drive the Celts from the city, but the city of Rome was left in even greater disarray and in dire need of rebuilding. The cost of the Romans' victory was high, but the city was saved and the Celts driven away.
