Dear Journal, Today has been a tough day for me. I feel so frustrated and exhausted. My mother, who I love dearly, has always had a tendency of showing favoritism to my older brother, Mondrell. It feels like he can do no wrong in her eyes, and no matter how much I try, I can never seem to measure up to him. It's like everything he does is amazing, even when it's not. To make matters worse, I've been taking early college classes in Psychology and English. The essays that my English teacher assigns are so long they take multiple days to complete, and it seems like every time I'm doing one, my mother is always upset with me for not being able to do anything else. Meanwhile, my brother can spend hours playing video games and she doesn't bat an eye. It just feels like no matter what I do, I'll never be good enough. I know that I should focus on my own growth and goals, but it's hard when the person who is supposed to support and encourage me the most seems to only care about my brother. I'm so grateful for my early college courses, even though they're challenging, because they've given me an outlet to explore my passions and discover more about myself. I just wish my mother could see that too. Anyways, enough venting for now. It's back to the long essay for me. Sincerely, Davion
