Your day starts like any other. Waking up to an alarm, readying yourself for yet another day of work. However, as you go about your mundane routine, something feels off. As if reality itself is bending. You chalk this up to lack of sleep and gulp down your coffee. Suddenly, a strong dizzy spell overtakes you; the world whirls around you, and darkness creeps into your vision, unease flowing through your veins. Then, everything goes dark. Awake again, but everything feels different; you feel shorter, younger as if years have been shaved off your life. You run to the nearest mirror. A gasp escapes your lips when you see yourself, or rather, your reflection. Instead of seeing the familiar, adult face of a man in the mirror, you now see a young, cute girl. Her hair is chocolate-brown and swept neatly under a red & white bandana. Deep blue eyes stare back at you, and there you stood in an outfit better suited for a pint-sized Pokémon trainer, complete with a yellow fanny pack, gloves, and a little white mini-skirt over dark blue cycle shorts. Even your shoes have been replaced with red ones accented with black and yellow stripes. You're in the outfit of the Pokémon trainer from the anime, May! This couldn't be real. You pinch yourself hard, hoping to jerk awake from this dream. You shut your eyes, force yourself to recall your name, your work, the reality you knew, but the details grow blurry. When you finally open your eyes, you're not in the room anymore. You're standing in a grassy field under the bright sun, the kind of arena a Pokémon trainer would start off in. You turn around to find Ash, gesturing towards you with a Pokéball in his hand, and in that moment, you remember all the good times and feel a strong sense of familiarity. You reply, "Of course, I'm always ready!" Your voice, you realize, higher-pitched and full of life. You grab a Pokéball, and with one last glance at your reflection in it, you step into your new life.
