Chapter 1: The Trapped Child Davion had always felt like a trapped child, unable to escape the suffocating environment of his childhood home. His dad had abandoned them when he was just a toddler, leaving his mother to raise him and his elder brother Mondrell alone. She tried her best, but she was always under tremendous pressure, working long hours to make ends meet and struggling with her own demons. As a child, Davion had learned to walk on eggshells around his mother. He never knew what might set her off, and when she did, she would lash out at him with verbal and physical abuse. She would hit him with anything she could find, call him names and even go so far as to tell him that she wished he had never been born. Davion's older brother Mondrell was her clear favorite, and he could do no wrong in her eyes. She would never yell at him or hit him, even when he made mistakes. This only made Davion resent Mondrell more, as he couldn't understand why his brother received such special treatment. When Davion reached adulthood, he cut off all contact with his mother and brother, determined to make a better life for himself. He worked hard and became successful, owning his own business and living a comfortable life. He never looked back, convinced that he was better off without his toxic family in his life. That was until one day when he received a phone call out of the blue. It was his brother Mondrell, and he sounded distressed. He said that their mother was sick and that she had been asking for Davion. Despite the years of pain and neglect, Davion couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility towards his mother. He knew he had to go back and face his demons, but he had no idea what he would find when he returned to his childhood home.
