Question: Write a story about a boy who was attending his older brothers wedding. He overhead his mother talking with his brother about the flowergirl being too sick that day and the bride worrying about it. The boy offers to be the flowergirl, and his older brother hugs him, telling him he's a great kid. His mother hustles him to a private room where she helps him out of his suit and into the tights, dress and shoes the flowergirl was going to wear. The boy had a great time walking down the aisle and tossing the flower petals. After the wedding the bride thanked him for stepping in. The boy shrugged and span in the dress, saying it was fun.
Ryan had always looked up to his older brother, Jake. So, when Jake was getting married, Ryan couldn’t have been more excited to wear his best suit and be part of the big day. As he was getting ready, Ryan overheard his mom talking in a hushed voice in the hallway. Peeking out, he saw her and Jake huddled together, worry creasing their faces. "The flowergirl's too sick to come," his mom whispered. "The bride’s so worried she might cry." Jake sighed. "She loved the idea of flower petals down the aisle." Without thinking, Ryan tugged on his brother’s sleeve. “I can be the flowergirl!” His brother blinked in surprise, then grinned and pulled Ryan into a big hug. “You’re a great kid, you know that?” Ryan’s mother hurried him to a quiet dressing room. “Are you sure about this?” she asked, searching his face. “Yeah!” Ryan said, unable to hide his excitement. Quickly, his mom helped him out of his suit and into white tights, a pretty dress, and sparkly shoes—just like the flowergirl was supposed to have worn. When he looked in the mirror, he giggled at how different he looked, but didn't mind one bit. Walking down the aisle, everyone watched as Ryan took slow, careful steps, tossing petals and grinning from ear to ear. The bride’s worried face melted into a huge smile as she saw him. The guests beamed and even snapped a few photos. After the ceremony, the bride found Ryan waving a basket of leftover petals. She knelt beside him and hugged him tight. “Thank you for saving the day!” Ryan shrugged and spun around, laughing as his dress twirled. “It was fun!” The whole family agreed—he had made the wedding even more special. And Ryan knew he’d always remember being the best surprise flowergirl ever.
